Yeok-Ma-Sal(역마살)

In Korean astrology, Yeokmasal (역마살) is a restless energy—one that never settles, always moving. I grew up hearing that I carried it, destined to drift between places, between worlds. This project is a visual translation of that feeling, shaped by the cultural and environmental shifts I’ve experienced while moving between the U.S. and Korea. It reflects the quiet tension between tradition and change, between belonging and displacement.
Using photogrammetry, I captured my grandmother’s hanbok—an artifact of where I come from, reassembled in a new form. Through photographs and 3D videos, I weave together fragments of identity, tracing the echoes of a journey still in motion.
